Welcome to "Born Country"! Thank you for becoming a "follower" of my blog advocating the importance of agriculture... in the past, today, and in the future!
I have started this blog as a way to connect with both current agricultural producers in order to share ideas, experiences, and the true story of our lifestyles as farmers and ranchers as well to connect to those who are not directly involved in the production of the meats, grains, vegetables, fruits, and milk products we consume, but are very much so influenced by agriculture because they are eating these products every day. I would like to give everyone an open forum to ask questions, voice their opinions, and discuss anything and everything about agriculture! Consumers are all too often misinformed by the media, or simply not informed at all about where their food comes from and the care taken to ensure it's welfare, consumer safety, and value. I hope that, as a young agriculture enthusiast hoping to work in the agricultural industry for the rest of my life, I can make a difference to the future of the industry by showing the public the true story that goes on long before your food makes it to the grocer's shelves.

I am very blessed to live the life I do, here in the country, surrounded by fresh air, wide open spaces, and the animals and people I love. I cannot imagine how different my life would be if I lived in a city! Having been involved in agriculture my entire life, I often forget that not everyone actually knows what the difference is between a cow and a bull, or that the Honey Nut Cheerios they just ate this morning started out as being grains in a field. As producers we need to make it a priority to advocate for ourselves, because no one else knows agriculture like the people that are outside every day, no matter what the weather, no matter how tired we are, and no matter how sticky the situation! We all need to eat food, so agriculture is everyone's business!
Raised on a commercial cow/calf operation near Sundre, Alberta I grew up surrounded by agriculture. Throughout the years I have been actively involved in the Alberta High School Rodeo Association, Sundre Pro Rodeo & Race Association, the Sundre & District Agricultural Society, the Sundre High School Students Union, and my greatest passion.... 4-H! I also enjoy photography, and find that my greatest love, agriculture, is most often my subject! My Dad, Larry Frischke, is a veterinarian, and my Mom, Joan Nybo, works in a veterinary clinic so I have come to appreciate the importance of animal welfare, food safety, and upholding consumer confidence. I am currently in grade 11, and I am planning on enrolling in an Agribusiness program at post-secondary upon graduating. Besides going to school, I keep extremely busy working on my family's ranch, caring for and showing my cattle, promoting 4-H and agriculture as a 4-H Key Member, and attending meetings of the many committees I am on. I also operate the main video replay camera for the four performances of the Sundre Pro Rodeo in June. I have a great passion for the agricultural industry and the people involved in it, and I hope that I can pass that along to my children and grandchildren. Agriculture producers don't get into the business because it's lucrative, we do what we do because it's our passion. I hope to use this blog to tell agriculture's story and answer as many questions as possible from consumers. I was born country, and this country's what I love!
