... heifers that is! Every year we take about 50 yearlings (either steers or heifers) from Marshall's Feedlot in Bowden to graze on our pastures over the summer. The feedlot does this in order for the animals to reach a larger weight before they are finished on more expensive feed (barley, alfalfa, corn, oats, low grade durum wheat, chick peas, potatoes, sugar beet pulp, silage, etc.) when they return to the feedlot in fall.Today our lot of 50 yearling heifers arrived on a liner from Marshall's! We processed them, putting Cydectin Pour-On on their backs to control parasites and writing numbers on their tags. Then the girls got turned out to the nice lush grass!
