Farm Safety Hits YouTube!

Safety is a major concern for all farm workers, everyday, all day. Every task you perform on the farm has risks associated with it. From working with livestock, to operating machinery - there can be major hazards involved.

The following are some statistics and graphs on farm injuries in Alberta for the year 2009 from the Government of Alberta Agriculture and Rural Development website http://www1.agric.gov.ab.ca/$Department/deptdocs.nsf/all/aet13045

Earlier this year I, along with J.T. Ross, were asked to be the voices and faces of a series of educational clips as part of Alberta Agriculture's "Safety Up!" Farm Safety initiative. A big part of this initiative is getting the word out to producers about the importance of daily safety on the farm. As our evolving world is currently in a technology and social media craze, what better way to spread the word far and wide than on the World Wide Web!

J.T. and myself spent a day filming in Olds, Alberta, at Mark's Work Warehouse and The Tack Corral. We filmed numerous short clips about Personal Protective Equipment, and other items you can buy to keep yourself protected in your daily tasks on the farm.
